Release 2024.2 of Epicor Kinetic reflects our dedication to enabling more connected workers, featuring new capabilities that simplify and streamline operations for your business. In this release we continue to improve the user experience of Kinetic through enhancements to Browser UX/UI; we’re also rolling out self-service tooling through the Epicor Cloud Management Portal.

Let’s take a closer look at the highlights of this release:

Core Kinetic + UX Enhancements

Strides in Sustainable Manufacturing

Carbon Cost Rollup

In alignment with the worldwide push for effective carbon tracking, this is phase 1 of the CO2e Sustainability Initiative, which will allow customers to build up the total carbon cost at the part number-level for every product, and to report their carbon metrics to regulatory entities. This will be performed using standard costing functionality. Future phases of this sustainability initiative will focus on applying the same capabilities to jobs, quotes, as well as the ability to post those carbon cost metrics to the general ledger and statistical accounts.

Carbon Footprint in Shipping from Epicor Quick Ship

With the increasing interest and regulation in sustainability around the world, we have introduced Carbon Footprint in Shipping. With this new feature you can view carrier options with estimated carbon emission (CO2e) during rate shopping and freighting—as well as the usual dollar costs—which together enable more informed decisions.

Continuing Your Digital Transformation

Self-Service Tooling Through the Epicor Cloud Management Portal

This tool empowers you to perform cloud services at your convenience. The feature will be rolled out in phases for most datacenters during the release, and communications will be sent when they are available.

SQL to BAQ Generator

The SQL to BAQ Generator is a tool in Kinetic that converts SQL queries into BAQs (Business Activity Queries), including support for complex joins and subqueries. This feature allows users to convert SQL queries into BAQs, accommodating various business reporting requirements and facilitating data analysis and report customization.

Test ReCoder UI Test Tool

Test ReCoder is a platform-agnostic browser plug-in with a suite of capabilities to help streamline UI testing. Originally developed for internal use by Epicor QA teams, it has been packaged and made available for Kinetic customers. With Test ReCoder, you can automate quality assurance by ”recoding” user journeys, creating auto scripts, executing API and performance tests, and managing regression testing.

Your Voice in Action

Other notable features for Core Kinetic coming directly from Epicor Ideas include:

  • Purchasing RFQ process enhancements that lead to improved workflow, streamlining the RFQ process for customers by making it much easier for Kinetic users to handle.
  • Dynamic Time Fence, which mitigates MRP noise (notifications or suggestions) when users make manual changes to a purchase order schedule to align with more accurate lead times.
  • A simplified PCID shipment process that saves Kinetic users ample time by removing the number of clicks/steps it takes to release PCIDs for shipment.
  • Automatic inter-company sales orders feature for customers with multiple companies that have large inter-company trading volumes.
  • Ability to now “Promote” Personalizations into Customizations in the Browser UX.

Accelerated Value with Business Applications

Our portfolio of Business Applications offers additional capabilities that enhance the Kinetic experience. Here are some highlights from 2024.2 Business Applications releases:

  • We’re excited to announce the acquisition of Acadia, a leading provider of connected worker solutions designed to empower frontline workers with real-time data, helping to drive operational efficiency, quality, and safety across industries.
  • Epicor Inventory Planning & Optimization, previously called Smart Software IP&O, is our own IP&O solution. This tool helps businesses eliminate reactive inventory planning and forecast guesswork by accurately calibrating risks, tradeoffs, and consequences at scale.
  • ECM now supports a Community Solutions Library for the sharing of open-sourced solutions including workflows, content, reports, and more. This provides customers with a head start on a variety of common configurations vs. building their own from scratch. Examples include a simple approval workflow, a DocuSign workflow, or a document pre-processing workflow.
  • In Epicor Automation Studio, there are two notable updates:
    • We started with the Paycor employee on-boarding and off-boarding templates introduced with Kinetic Release 2024.1. With the introduction of our new Pre-Payroll and Post-Payroll Process templates for 2024.2, we’re expanding our commitment to supporting customers with a best-of-breed Human Capital Management (HCM) system, Paycor, that is both cost-effective and highly efficient.
    • A Google Gemini AI industry template has been added that helps in fetching and transforming data related to Kinetic POs and sales orders.
